Online School and Social life Balance.
Online School and Social life Balance.
As the days are getting warmer, many people are going out with their loved ones and friends. Whether it’s on their day off, after a busy shift, or even from staying indoors working or studying at home.
For some who study online there are boundaries that get in the way that affect their personal and social life. Many of the times it is correlated to lacking skills with balancing life. Below are some skills that will greatly improve your ability to have a better social life while in classes.
Prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and importance.
Looking at a to-do list can get very overwhelming, instead make a list of tasks by order of urgency. If you have smaller tasks, keep it at the bottom of the list, and keep bigger tasks at the top. That way things get more organized and you have a more clear vision and goal with your personal time.
Communicate with friends and family your schedule.
Be completely honest with friends and family about your busy schedule. Let the ones you care about the most know about your study commitment. And let them know what days you are free in your calendar so that there is time set aside for you and them. That way no one has to feel left out or ignored.
Plan things in Advance
Plan something with a friend a week/two or even a month in advance. Find a realistic pocket of time or day to meet, where you know you won’t be rushing or stressing. Organization and good communication is key to planning things.
Make Boundaries
Be prepared to say no and reject outing offers. School is a commitment whether online or in person, that will pay off. Setting boundaries with a busy schedule is crucial for maintaining a balance. You should be able to enjoy social time without guilt or anxiety of a test coming up!
