Applying to University (OUAC)
What Does OUAC Do?
The OUAC (Ontario Universities’ Application Centre) is an application processing center for undergraduate admissions to Ontario Universities. The OUAC receives student applications, processes them and transfers the information to the universities. Admission decisions are not made by OUAC; that is the universities’ responsibility.
Will My Marks Be Sent Directly to OUAC?
For students applying through OUAC, you must first add “Ontario Open School” to your OUAC account’s Academic Background area to grant our management access to your application. After you’ve added us, simply check off “101” when requesting your report card, and we’ll update the result immediately to OUAC for you. Students applying to university as a 105 should only provide the university’s admissions email and their student ID number.

Can I Use OUAC to Apply to Universities Outside of Ontario?
The OUAC exclusively collects and updates marks for students who are applying to at least one university within Ontario. However, it extends its support to certain out-of-province universities. Please contact the OUAC for further details.
It’s important to note that if you’re not planning to apply to any universities within Ontario, please contact your selected universities to get the information on how to apply to them. Once your application has been processed with your chosen university and a student number has been assigned to you, you can contact OOS and provide accurate information to have your required academic documents forwarded to your chosen university.

It receives and processes student applications and transfers the information to the colleges. It is important to note that OCAS facilitates only the admission process, admission decisions are colleges’ responsibility.

Yes, Ontario Open School (OOS) will send your marks directly to OCAS after you have submitted your application.

Student FAQs
OOS allows students to enroll and start learning at any time. Once payment is processed and verification is complete, students get instant access to course materials. Each course must be completed within 12 months from the registration date, giving students the flexibility to study at their own pace and convenience.
Program Options
Our program offers flexibility to suit different learning preferences. We provide two main categories: High School Courses and Tutoring Courses.
High School Courses are further divided into:
- Self-Study Credit: Ideal for independent learners who prefer to study at their own pace.
- Instructor-Led Classes: Perfect for students who thrive with structured guidance from a teacher.
Tutoring Courses include:
- Instructor-Led Tutoring: Group sessions led by an experienced instructor.
- Private 1-on-1 Tutoring: Personalized sessions designed to individual student needs.
Students can choose the option that best fits their learning style and goals.
In OOS courses, you’ll find a range of assessment types comparable to those in regular day school courses, including tests, quizzes, essays, pre-recorded audio/video presentations, research projects, and various written or media-based tasks. Aside from tests and exams, all assignments are completed at your own pace and come with flexible deadlines.
OSSD Requirement
The attainment of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning and progression in multiple pathways, such as the workplace, apprenticeship, college, or university.
Ontario Open School (OOS) is an online private high school, authorized by Ontario Ministry of Education to grant credits and issue the OSSD diploma. OOS offers students in Canada and abroad the opportunity to earn an OSSD diploma entirely online. OOS students can complete their credits online from anywhere around the world. The OSSD earned at OOS, offered the same Ontario curriculum as an OSSD earned through a publicly funded secondary day school.
The following requirements must be successfully completed in order to obtain an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD):
- Successful completion of 30 credits, including 18 compulsory and 12 optional
- Earn at least two Online Learning Credits.
- 40 hours of community involvement
- Successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) or the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC)

Student Records
The following are the most important types of documents
Ontario Student Record (OSR): For Students in Ontario Must have their OSR file managed by a school. For students enrolled in courses with Ontario Open School (OOS), they have the option of either transferring their existing Ontario Student Record from their previous school or OOS can create the OSR file for the new registered students in Ontario.
OOS when holding the student’s Ontario Student Record, they provide optional services such as assessing equivalent credits, reporting to OUAC/OCAS accounts, and issuing Transcripts, OSSD diploma and Ontario Scholar Certificates, some services possibly incurring additional fees.
If a student needs their OSR transferred or created by OOS, Our Guidance Team will reach out shortly after registration.
Ontario Secondary School Report Cards: The Ontario Open School issues official midterm report cards once student’s complete half of their course units, followed by an official final report card on completion of all units and graded assignments in their course, including their exam or final assessment. Report cards will be sent directly to the school holding the student’s Ontario Student Record (OSR) so that they can be added to the record and/or transcript. Students will also receive electronic copies of their OOS report cards for their personal record-keeping.
Ontario Student Transcript: A student’s transcript keeps record of all secondary school courses and OSSD requirements fulfilled by the student. If OOS holds the student OSR “Ontario Student Record” file, we will create and/or update their transcript, students can also request an official copy of their transcript anytime. If OOS does not hold the student’s Ontario Student Record (OSR), we will communicate with the student’s main school and OUAC/OCAS to ensure that we report any credits earned at OOS.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma: As a high school inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education, Ontario Open School (OOS) is authorized to grant Ontario Secondary School Diplomas (OSSDs) to eligible students. It carries the same recognition as diplomas from other Ontario schools and is accepted by colleges and universities worldwide
Ontario Scholar Certificate: A student may be designated an Ontario Scholar if he or she satisfies both of the following requirements:
- he or she obtains an aggregate of at least 480 marks in any combination of ministry-approved courses listed below that provide a total of six credits, as defined by Ontario Secondary Schools, Grades 9 to 12: Program and Diploma Requirements, 1999 (OSS) and/or Ontario Schools, Intermediate and Senior Divisions (Grades 7–12/OACs): Program and Diploma Requirements, rev. ed., 1989 (OSIS)
- he or she has been recommended by the school principal for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in either the current school year or the previous school year
Ministry-approved courses are the following:
- any Grade 12 university preparation, university/college preparation, college preparation, workplace preparation, and/or open courses authorized under OSS, including locally developed courses approved by the ministry
- cooperative education courses related to any of the above courses
- dual credit courses in college-delivered dual credit programs approved by the ministry
- any Ontario Academic Courses (OACs) authorized under OSIS
